Petition Against J20 Repression: Drop the Charges!

for a more in-depth explanation of what happened on J20, and to read a list of endorsing organizations, please see this longer letter we wrote.

On January 20th, 2017, over 215 people were arrested and charged with felony rioting for protesting the inauguration of Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.  Since then, these protesters have been slapped with additional felony charges, including “conspiracy to riot”.  They are facing up to 75 years in prison.

The crackdown on protesters in D.C. is part of a larger effort to criminalize and silence dissent in working-class and marginalized communities.  The Trump administration wants activists to be afraid to protest its agenda.

Please sign this petition to tell the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia to drop all charges against these protesters. You can also contact the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia directly at channing.phillips@usdoj.gov and his spokesperson at William.Miller3@usdoj.gov.
